About Cornerstone Care Australia
What is Support Coordination:
Support coordination allows a participant support to build the knowledge base they need to better understand the NDIS. Participants will work with a support coordinator to determine how their funds will be spent whilst working towards their stated NDIS goals. Support coordinators work alongside participants to increase their choice and control over their own supports, whilst allowing them to lead the life they choose
How many hours of support coordination do people typically get?
NDIS participants get anywhere between 0-200 hours per year. We aim to be transparent with all our participants to ensure they are aware of their allocated support hours, that way we can work together to effectively manage and utilize their funding. If at any point participants feel they require further support we can request this from NDIS.
Who will receive recovery coach funding?
Generally recovery coach will be funded in plans for people with psychosocial support needs. You do not have to choose a recovery coach if you do not want to. You can choose a recovery coach with lived experience. A recovery coach with lived experience has their own experiences of mental ill health and recovery and are able to use this experience to inform their work.
Do participants get funded for support coordination every year?
Support coordination is intended to be a time limited, capacity building support, where the person’s skills are built up to the point where they no longer require a support coordinator. We are 100% committed to all our participants. Our focus is on ensuring that participants are at the core of the care choices to fully enable them and their support networks to live a fulfilled life.
What is Psychosocial Recovery Coaching
A psychosocial recovery coach is a new NDIS service designed to support individuals with a psychosocial disability to take more control of their everyday lives. A recovery coach will spend time with you and your supports to get to know you and understand your support needs. They will help you find out about different services and supports to find the best fit for you.
What qualification do Psychosocial Recovery Coaches have?
Cornerstone Care Australia ensures all psychosocial recovery coaches have a minimum of Certificate 4 in Mental Health or Mental Health Peer work. Some of our recovery coaches may have other relevant qualifications or training. Please feel free to speak with us directly about the qualification and experiences of our recovery coaches.

The purpose of this is to replace behaviours of concern (any behaviour which causes stress, work or actual harm) with positive behaviours and reduce the use of restrictive practises.
